Projects

The Project Committee works to create a way for member companies to come together in a hands-on project to benefit the community. Through these projects, like-minded people have been able to give of their time, talent and tangible goods to address community needs.

2011 Signature Project

The CVC is partnering with The Samaritan Center in its battle against hunger in Central New York. Member companies can help by: (1) providing food; (2) cooking and serving breakfast and/or dinner meals; (3) baking and donating breakfast breads and desserts; (4) cleaning and painting; and/or (5) coordinating hygiene product drives for Samaritan Center clients.

Past Projects

To date, here are the projects we have completed:

  • 2010 Signature Project - The CVC partnered with The Samaritan Center in its battle against hunger in Central New York. Member companies helped by: (1) providing food; (2) cooking and serving breakfast and/or dinner meals; (3) baking and donating breakfast breads and desserts; (4) cleaning and painting; and/or (5) coordinating hygiene product drives for Samaritan Center clients.

  • The Annual "Dictionary Project" - Each year, CVC members contribute towards and volunteer to distribute dictionaries to Syracuse City School District 3rd graders. Many companies and individuals participate to create a better learning environment for the city school students.

  • 2007 DePaul Cooperative Daycare Center and Schiller Park - Volunteers spruced up a large area of DePaul Daycare with a fresh coat of paint and cleaned up Schiller Park after a long, cold winter.

  • 2006 "Dictionary Project" - CVC members purchased and donated dictionaries to all 3rd grade students in the Syracuse City School District. The project was modeled from an existing program to encourage students with their education.

  • 2006 CVC and Leadership Greater Syracuse Class of 05 partnered to complete a four-part project. The recipients of this project were Thorden Park (City Parks), Rescue Mission (downtown campus) and Rescue Mission (Liverpool warehouse), as well as the Boxing Club on S. Geddes St.

  • 2005 "Back to School" - The first CVC Project was a great benefit for 3 city schools:  Huntington; Dr. Weeks and Salem Hyde. Students and staff worked with CVC volunteers for much needed beautification.

  • 2005 Onondaga Lake Park - Volunteers cleaned and applied polyurethane to over 100 park benches to help the park get ready for winter.
